IF YOU ARE A VICTIM OF CRIME IN NEVADA, YOU HAVE RIGHTS.

If you are a victim of crime in Nevada, you have protected rights under the state Constitution thanks to the 2018 voter approval of Marsy's Law for Nevada. Through Marsy's Law for Nevada, crime victims have the right to be informed about their case by law enforcement investigators, the District Attorney's office in charge of the case, and the Department of Corrections post-conviction. Throughout the criminal justice process, Marsy's Law for Nevada allows victims to have a reasonable voice, information, and consideration about their case.

To be involved you must OPT-IN to the VICTIM NOTIFICATION SERVICE for each agency involved in your case. This may include:

  • Law Enforcement Investigators
  • County Prosecutors & Victim Advocates Working Your Case
  • NV ATTORNEY GENERAL
  • Post Conviction Victim Services: Dept. of Corrections & Office of Parole and Probation

STAY IN TOUCH & KEEP YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION CURRENT THROUGHOUT YOUR CASE & THE PENALTY PHASE

Stay in contact with each agency as the suspect(s) go through the legal process. Provide each agency with accurate/current personal contact information including your phone, email, and street address so they have multiple methods to reach you regarding legal proceedings.

IF THERE ARE ANY CHANGES in your contact information, you must
 NOTIFY ALL AGENCIES involved, immediately.

VICTIM ADVOCATE RESOURCES

Resources are available across Nevada to assist victims of crime. Your local police or sheriff's department, District Attorney’s office, Department of Corrections, and Probation & Parole offices have victim advocates to provide guidance and information to victims during the legal process.

*Victim Assistance/Advocacy Organizations provide valuable resources and support for victims of crime and can guide you to appropriate VICTIM NOTIFICATION SERVICES. Opt-in to victim information resources and stay informed with Marsy's Law for Nevada.
